The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
