When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
