۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
