The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
