The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
