Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
