And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers. 80 And We gave them Our signs, and they remained averse to them. 81 They used to hew dwellings in the mountains to live in security. 82 So the scream overcame them at morning. 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator and knows (everything). 86 And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatiha) and the Grand Quran. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 who have broken the Koran into parts, 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers. 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say, 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99
