The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
