Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
