And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink." 42 We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. -- 43 "And take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith (your wife), and break not your oath. Truly! We found him patient. How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)! 44 And remember Our slaves, Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac), and Ya'qub (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding. 45 Verily We did choose them for a special (purpose)- proclaiming the Message of the Hereafter. 46 In Our eyes they were of the chosen, virtuous people. 47 And call to mind Ishmael and Elisha, and every one who [like them] has pledged himself [unto Us]: for, each of them was of the truly good! 48 This is an admonition, and verily for the God-fearing is a happy retreat: 49 'Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be open for them, [It is said (in Tafsir At-Tabari, Part 23, Page 174) that one can speak to the doors, just one tells it to open and close, and it will open or close as it is ordered]. 50 Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; 51 ۞ And with them shall be those restraining their eyes, equals in age. 52 This is what is promised you for the Day of Reckoning. 53 (It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our Provision which will never finish; 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 Hell!- they will burn therein, - an evil bed (indeed, to lie on)!- 56 Here is a boiling and an ice-cold draught, so let them taste it, 57 And other [punishments] of its type [in various] kinds. 58 Here is a troop rushing headlong with you! No welcome for them! truly, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement." 60 They will say: our Lord! whosever hath brought this upon us, unto him increase doubly the torment of the Fire. 61 And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked. 62 "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 Verily, that is the very truth, the mutual dispute of the people of the Fire! 64
