The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He has created man: 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
