A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a good many of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
