The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not think they will be raised to life again 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
