The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
