Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn; 1 and the ten nights! 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by the Night when it passeth away;- 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 And when hell is brought that day on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And His bonds will be such as none other can bind. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
