In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
