The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
