And Noah -- when he called before, and We answered him, and delivered him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together. 77 And David and Solomon they passed judgment upon the tilled land on which the people's sheep had strayed. We bore witness to their judgment, and 78 To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things). 79 And We taught him the fashioning of garments for you, to fortify you against your violence; then are you thankful? 80 And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing. 81 And We subdued many devils who dived (into the sea) for him and carried out other jobs besides that. We kept watch over all of them. 82 ۞ Remember Job when he called on his Lord saying, "I have been afflicted with great distress: but You are the most merciful of the merciful." 83 So We answered him, and removed the affliction that was upon him, and We gave his people, and the like of them with them, mercy from Us, and a Reminder to those who serve. 84 Ismael, Idris and Dhul Kifl all were people of great patience. 85 We admitted them to Our mercy. They were all righteous men. 86 And ThulNun (Prophet Jonah), he went away in anger thinking We had no power over him. But in the darkness he cried: 'There is no god except You. Exaltations to You! I was among the harmdoers' 87 We heard his prayer and saved him from grief. As such We shall save the believers. 88 AND [thus did We deliver] Zachariah when he cried out unto his Sustainer: "O my Sustainer! Leave me not childless! But [even if Thou grant me no bodily heir, I know that] Thou wilt remain when all else has ceased to be!" 89 So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive. 90 And also recall the woman who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and made her and her son a Sign to the whole world. 91 'Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so serve Me.' 92 But they have broken up and differed as regards their religion among themselves. (And) they all shall return to Us. 93
