The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
