And indeed this Qur’an has been sent down by the Lord Of The Creation. 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
