The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man, 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
