The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
