The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
