The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
