The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 For We have caused none but angelic powers to lord over the fire [of hell]; and We have not caused their number to be aught but a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth - to the end that they who have been granted revelation aforetime might be convinced [of the truth of this divine writ]; and that they who have attained to faith [in it] might grow yet more firm in their faith; and that [both] they who have been granted the earlier revelation and they who believe [in this one] might be freed of all doubt; and that they in whose hearts is disease and they who deny the truth outright might ask, "What does [your] God mean by this parable?" In this way God lets go astray him that wills [to go astray,] and guides aright him that wills [to be guided]. And none can comprehend thy Sustainers forces save Him alone: and all this is but a reminder to mortal man. 31

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
