He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
