The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 In Allah's help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 they know but the outer surface of this world's life, whereas of the ultimate things they are utterly unaware. 7 Have they not thought that God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them but for a genuine purpose to exist for an appointed term? Many people do not believe in their meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of Allah and they were wont to mock at them. 10
