The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
