Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered, 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 And when the graves are laid open, 4 Every soul will come to know what it has sent ahead and what it left behind. 5 O man! What is it that lures you away from your bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; 7 Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you. 8 Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment, 9 Surely, there are guardians watching over you, 10 Honourablel scribes. 11 and these honorable scribes know whatever you do. 12 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 13 And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire, 14 They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense, 15 to burn therein. 16 How can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 17 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 18 It is the day when no soul will have power to do the least for a soul, and God's alone will be done. 19
