The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
