The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 Then they advised Pharaoh: 'Put off Moses and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to your cities 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
