Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
