Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
