We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. 27 Are We to make those who believe and do good works the same as those who corrupt the earth? Are We to make the righteous as the wicked? 28 (This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 Recall what time there were presented unto him, at eventide, coursers swift-footed. 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us). 34 He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower. 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 and others joined together by (iron) fetters. 38 We told him, "This is Our gift to you so give them away free or keep them as you like". 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
