Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
