The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
