The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
