The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
