The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Some say: 'No, it is only mixed dreams' 'No, he has forged it himself', or, 'no, he is a poet! Let him bring us a sign, just as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers' 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
