Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
