Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
