The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
