Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
