The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
