Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
