The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
