The Town (Al-Balad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them. 20
