The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
