Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
