He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
